Dental Cleaning & Check Ups

At the core of healthy teeth is prevention.

Prevention helps avoid serious and often costly dental problems that can arise without proper care. That's why it's important to take the steps necessary to ensure a healthy, happy smile!

With this in mind, it is important to schedule and perform regular teeth cleanings and checkups so that you gain the greatest benefit of optimal oral health care. For most people two visits a year is all that is needed to maintain healthy hygiene.

Of course Dr. Blackwell also recommends brushing your teeth at least two times a day and flossing daily. This will help tremendously in maintaining healthy hygiene in between visits to the office and help avoid dental problems in general.

For our new patients Dr. Blackwell performs a full oral examination, which includes full x-rays so we can evaluate your current oral health and your individual needs going forward.

Below are a few things of interest related to maintaining a healthy, happy mouth:

Digital X-RAYS

Our advanced digital x-ray (Radiograph) system drastically reduced radiation, eliminates need for hazardous chemicals, and helps us process you insurance claim quickly.

Periodontal Treatment

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Because gum disease is usually painless, it's estimated that 80% of people have periodontal disease and don't even know it!

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in all water sources, including oceans, lakes and rivers. Research shows that fluoride helps prevent cavities in children and adults by making teeth more resistant to the acid attacks that cause cavities.

Sealants

Dental sealants act as a barrier to prevent cavities. They are a plastic material usually applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) where decay occurs most often.
